Catching up

March 01, 2006

I know its been a very long time and we have a lot of catching up to do. Brian has been oil painting since our return from the Spectrum Exhibition in September. He has taken to it like a fish to water and the results are stunning. The first oil painting made an appearance at Lunar Boy gallery in August as part of the “Tales from a Tin Can” show. The Issue with Angels appeared in the “Bad Moon Rising” show at Roq la Rue, Seattle, WA in October and was the first Brian Despain oil painting sold. Since October, life has been all about communing with the oil paints: mastering color, creating palettes and experimenting. Brian still harbors love for the fantasy RPG so he took on a few cards for Magic The Gathering. (He is also DM of his own D&D adventure here at home.)

Brian is part of the “Triple Threat” descending upon Roq la Rue on March 10th, 2006. Prepare yourself for Brian’s largest organic output in years! If you were moved by the painterly work of his digital paintings, wait until you see what he can do with a paint brush. Brian (and I) will be there for the opening so if you are able to come by, please do and say hello.

And along with everything else, Brian is still working at Snowblind Studios in Bothell, WA. Their next title will be announced later in March.

***Pathetic attempt to gain sympathy and forgiveness for the neglect of imphead.com:

With Brian so very busy being brilliant and productive, I was supposed to be responsible for keeping tabs on the web site. Due to some unfortunate injuries to my neck/elbow/wrist/shoulder my body has had very little tolerance for work at the computer, well any kind of work really, so under strict medical orders, I had to let the site lapse. I am slowly coming back to full strength and will make every effort to get things back up and running smoothly. I have been keeping up on print orders and hope that everyone has, at least, been satisfied with the quality of that service. I do appreciate any feedback (OK maybe not so much mean stuff, but I'll read it), so bring it on and help me make things cooler on the site.
